I have been concentrating on sharing some of my favourite local Perth brands and labels over the past few weeks and thought it was time to share some of my favourite Australia wide brands. The following are ones I genuinely love for their quality and ethics (I own their products so can not speak highly enough of them) and the below are also small run businesses – therefore the type of businesses that need extra support during this time.

Evie and Anna

Thinking about getting back into work beyond isolation? Then Evie and Anna is a label to look to for workwear that is beyond basic. Evie and Anna’s clothing is modern tailoring at its best and will take you beyond the office. Each piece is made of high quality materials with unique finishing details, it’s the type of clothing that will want to wear for years.

Effie Katts & BAYSE

Effie Kats, is the namesake label by the Melbourne based designer focusing on tailored garments and made to measure clothing. The Effie Kats label gained a cult following with its highly flattering suits and co-ordinated sets for women, in a range of modern styles and cuts, something of which there is a huge demand for in the market. Effie Kats also offers a range of cocktail and red carpet dresses.

BAYSE is Effie Kats’ basics line featuring everyday quality pieces that can be worn as is or layered under your favourite jackets. BAYSE includes tees, bodysuits, dresses and skirts that will become wardrobe favourites in no time.

The reason I highly recommend both the Effie Kats label and BAYSE is that Effie herself is customer focused, knows what women are looking for in their clothing and how to achieve that in quality materials and affordable prices.

John and Luna

John and Luna jewellery is designed in Sydney by Teresa and handmade using high quality recycled metals and semi precious stones. Each piece is made to be versatile worn everyday as a timeless piece or to compliment your own style. I especially love Teresa’s recent collection New Moon which takes inspiration from new beginnings and is designed to be layered with others in the collection or with your existing pieces. If you want a piece that is more statement than delicate than my pick is the Titan (pictured above right), featuring turquoise stone this piece can be worn multiple ways including as a necklace and wrap-around bracelet.

Global Vintage Collective

For the best in thrifted and vintage finds I always look to Global Vintage Collective, based in Richmond Melbourne. Run by the talented Ash, each piece is sourced by her in markets and treasure troves around the world and then brought back to her eclectic shop.

Expect to find great quality, authentic band tees, varsity jumpers, leather goods, stacks of denim and everything in between. While it’s always best to head into the Richmond shop in person (with the added bonus of pats with Holly the resident shop dog) you can also shop from the Global Vintage website or from their Instagram.

St Cloud

I live in ribbed knit tops, the texture is perfect for layering and adding interest to any outfit, they are super comfortable to wear and can be worn with everything style of bottom. My favourite is from St Cloud the Rhodes rib knit polo which is super soft and adds polish to a simple pair of jeans. I also love that St Cloud are dedicated to working as sustainable as possible and are introducing recycled and organic yarn into upcoming collections.

Lastly if you don’t have the means to support local by purchasing it’s completely understandable at a time like this. Why not engage with local boutiques, labels & brands via social media? Or share their posts, you never know what your reach could do to positively impact someone. Knowing we are all in this together can be powerful in feeling less isolated and reducing anxiety.
